ABOUT ALEXYS & SAM

As co-founders of ConcreteStem, a production design and props styling company, the duo is quickly making waves and expanding their loyal base of clientele by putting their fresh perspective and keen aesthetic to work behind the scenes of the commercial, still and video stage.

Originally from the Midwest, the creativities burgeoning herein could not be contained. Two unique individuals trekked to Hollywood, both succeeding in creative pursuits by working in front of the camera, modeling for print and commercial campaigns of nearly 100 clients. It was on these sets that the two collided and ConcreteStem was born. Not content to just be a coupla’ pretty faces, Sam and Alexys set out to make a name for themselves in other creative arenas involving beautiful things and even more beautiful people.

During the pandemic, the couple used the time to dive in gardening and permaculture.  Alexys began permaculture college where she learned about eco systems, both in nature and in human nature.  Together, Sam and Alexys used these principles in permaculture for their business.

As the industry picked up, they found themselves wide eyed with a fresh outlook on the roles we as a crew/ team play together and the delicious balance that make for magic to occur. Working with writers and directors is their passion. ConcreteStem loves  Collaborating on character driven narratives as they dive deep into the psychology of a space to bring ideas to life. Their goal is to provide purpose and intention for actors. They place items in the scene that triggers the characters memory. They curate colors, shapes, textures and lighting that bring the audience into the scene. 

Alexys and Sam find it so beneficial to make sure they provide the fodder to get the most out of the scene for the actors. They are keenly aware of budget constraints and are hyper vigilant about staying in constant communication throughout their prep. Sam and Alexys work with the same producers over and over for this reason.

ConcreteStem has a fine grasp on visual threads of culture and tradition. Their vast collection of antiques, heirlooms, and treasures collected on their many travel adventures, help bring history and experience to their sets. Attention to detail is a priority for this couple and their team. Knowing what best to bring to evoke a vibe, is their talent.
